The Container Assistance programme (CAP) of Transnet provides critical infrastructure for deserving safety and social programmes and initiatives. The CAP focuses on both rail related and social programmes to deliver holistic social interventions, such as Transnet community centres and classrooms.

Tenteleni Pre–Primary School is a non-profit organisation situated in the Mataffin farming area, an area which is struggling with a high rate of unemployment. The school provides care and support for 67 children aged between two and six years. This requirement for additional infrastructure support comes after an overwhelming rise in enrollment numbers which the school could not accommodate.

The funding will go a long way in ensuring that the pre-school’s objectives of child welfare and provision of care and services to the disadvantaged children are met.

This positive gesture of assistance by Transnet demonstrates its sustainable nature of community involvement by sustaining vulnerable communities. It is envisaged that the classroom will be completed end March 2014.
