The Transnet School of Excellence has continued with its tradition of sweeping the awards in 2013. The Boys’ school located in Ekurhuleni and funded by Transnet and SAFA has lived true to its name in this front producing stars that have gone on to represent South Africa on the international stages.
As is now a tradition, the following were the awards scooped by individuals and the school during the course of 2013:
Individual Awards for School Players In 2013
Collins Sindane was awarded best goalkeeper in Gauteng McDonalds Tournament.
Edwin Sekwama was awarded Top Goal Scorer in Manchester United Premier Cup National tournament.
Thulani Jele was voted the best defender during the 2013 Engen Knockout Tournament.
Player Selection to Represent the Country
Dlozi Ndaba has been selected by Coca Cola Scouts to represent South Africa in next year’s Coca-Cola Talent search in Brazil with the hope of signing a professional contract with the big European teams. He is one of the four player’s country wide to be selected.
Tshepo Mashigo has been selected to play for the U/20 SAFA National Team for COSAFA tournament in Lesotho from 2 December – 12 December 2013.
Thulani Jele was selected to play for the Under 20 SAFA national team for GHANA fixture in February 2013 and Zone six games in Botswana in March 2013.
Players Drafted Into The Premier Soccer League Competitions:
Thulani Jele a 2013 matriculant is in the process of signing a contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.
