The Transnet Foundation says it has held an exciting, educative and informative workshop directed at its youth held at the Esselen Park School of Rail from Monday the 24th of March ending the 27th of March, 2013.
The Transnet Foundation says it has held an exciting, educative and informative workshop directed at its youth held at the Esselen Park School of Rail from Monday the 24th of March ending the 27th of March, 2013.
The youth, all of whom are part of a programme called Transnet Foundation Orphaned Youth Education Development, have got some of the brilliant and intelligent heads man can ever accommodate, and are so assertive with great inter-personal skills. The youth, some of whom were flying for the first time came from far afield as KwaZulu Natal, Limpopo and North West are a beacon of hope as the country re-casts its eye on affording each South African child a good educational grounding.
The Transnet Foundation Youth Education Development Life skills Camp, aimed at improving the life skills of the youth, stretched over 4 days has been hailed by Ms Theresa Moila, Senior Manager Education at the Foundation to be a resounding success.
“It was a very fulfilling workshop. These youth will join Transnet as their employer of choice. They are already Transnet brand Ambassadors of note and I just love their energy, zest for life, positive outlook, despite their challenging backgrounds. They are defining and carving a bright future for themselves.
“The programme started in earnest and was very exciting by the minute. Our youth were amazing and thanks to Transnet for affording them the amazing opportunity to excel,” she says.
The workshop was facilitated by Deshun Deysel, the first South African black woman to summit Mount Everest. Deysel used her experiences of tackling Mount Everest to teach the Transnet Foundation Youth to tackle their life summits. She was accompanied by Thokoza Mjo, a young dynamic black business woman and certainly breaking boundaries by giving business opportunities to women owned companies.
Another shining star among many at the workshop was Happy Ndima, a Transnet Foundation beneficiary who believes that great people are those who have the ability to think great thoughts, perceive great possibilities and go on to create great futures regardless of their circumstance.
The lifeskills workshop added to the growth of the 10 youth, who reaffirmed their commitment to the programme by taking the pledge.
