Michael Moloto, Senior Manager: Sport was born in Burgersfort Limpopo and qualified as a primary school teacher in 1979. Between 1980 and 1984, Moloto worked as a Welfare and Recreation Officer in several mines in the Free State, Vaal Reefs, Carletonville and Westonaria.  At the time, mines were giving black athletes opportunities to develop their sporting talents and it was during this period that he qualified for national championships in 5 000m, 10 000m, cross country, 15km and 21km races.

Moloto won many awards, gold medals and trophies as well as national championships during this time such that the University of Oklahoma in Still Water Oklahoma USA and University of Natal Howard College offered him full scholarships in 1983 and 1984 respectively. He opted for the University of Natal and attended there in 1985.

While at this institution studying for a law degree, he received another scholarship from Abilene Christian University (ACU) in Texas USA. In 1986 he left for the USA and enrolled for a BSC degree at ACU. He graduated in 1989 and in 1990 enrolled for MA degree sport Psychology major at North Texas State University. He completed his MA degree in Sport psychology from Ball State University Muncie Indiana USA in 1993. Among his many athletic victories overseas, is the Dallas White rock Marathon in Dallas Texas (42.2KM) which he won in 1988.

He returned to South Africa in 1993 and lectured at Wits University, at the Division of Physical Education for six years.  He was also a lecturer and a Director at West minister College of education from 1993 to 1997. In 1998 to 2001 he joined the Gauteng Department of Education where he coordinated public private partnerships in sport.  In 1997 he conceptualized a talent identification and development programme for Athletics South Africa and worked as a consultant for them. The project was sponsored by Absa and ran for five years.

Moloto conceptualized a multi-coded sport schooling (system) document that gave birth to Rosina Sedibana Modiba Sport School located in Laudium Pretoria.   Before leaving the Gauteng department of education (GDE) for Transnet in 2001 he put together task teams and ensured that Rosina Sedibana Modiba sport school was fully established and handed over to the relevant authorities at the GDE.

 In Transnet he is the senior manager responsible for the Transnet football school of excellence and has conceptualized the Rural and farm schools sport development programme. The Rural and farm schools programme was a runner up at the Old Mutual Community Builder of the Year in 2007 and the winner of the Mail and Guardian Rural Sport Development of the Year in 2008.  He also serves as an executive member of the “Legendary Athletes of South Africa” (LASA).
